Nazli Ghassemi talks to Dr. Tatiana Flores, the curator of “Relational Undercurrents: Contemporary Art of the Caribbean Archipelago” on view now at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California.
The exhibition draws attention to the legacy of colonialism, race, environment and history of a region of the Americas in the Caribbean and its diasporas, through the eyes of 80 contemporary artists from 13 countries. The exhibition comes at a time when hurricanes have devastated the region. The exhibition is part of the Getty Foundation’s PST:LA/LA Initiative project.
